As music lovers we tend to be on the lookout for any opportunity to explore the world around us and all it has to offer, especially when it comes to locations that represent the life blood of a musical hub. In this series of list we will explore some well known and possibly underrated cities that have great music embedded in their culture. New York City, NY
The big apple, recognized as one of the most important epicenters for entertainment in the world. New York City has the “It” factor very present as art and culture ooze from every nook and cranny of the city. Whether you’re seeking a once in a lifetime set from your favorite artist or on the look out for a musical on Broadway, NY has it all and more. As a travel destination, it’s well known that top tier talent can’t afford to skip NYC on their tour stops and the city continually has the attention of music acts both large and small scale in a wide range of genres. New York has also spawned many of the most popular genres of music such as Hip-Hop, punk rock, garage, bebop jazz and many others with recognizable acts that pioneered sounds we continue to enjoy. If you want to embrace the explorer within, check out a show or two in the city that never sleeps.

Atlanta, Georgia
Now recognized as a hip hop haven and one of the most desirable places to visit and live in, Atlanta is on the path to growth for entertainment and music and isn’t looking to slow down. With a massive metro area that’s supported by many small towns and suburbs, Atlanta has an amazing support system for live entertainment. Expect to see a bunch of your favorite rap artists doing shows in ATL but R&B, Neo-Soul and indie rock also get plenty of shine with venues that offer something for each respective scene.

Austin, Texas
Home of SXSW and known as the live music capital of the world, Austin has staked its claim in the world of entertainment! Hundreds of music venues are littered around the city and the creative community has completely taken over. Jazz, rock, blue-grass and many more find a home in Austin and with so much room for performances, artists continue to flock there to launch and grow their careers. Complemented by amazing food and visual art to match the musical presence Austin can’t be ignored as a fantastic location in the global music scene.

Nashville, Tennessee
Nashville has a reputation as a music lovers city, abundant in venues and music history to enjoy. Iconic locales like the Bluebird Café, The National Museum of African American Music, Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Honky Tonk Highway, The Johnny Cash Museum and there’s plenty to explore. Country, Rock, Blues, Bluegrass and the like are very much at home in Nashville and with a robust downtown the energy is sure to get you out and about enough to see what the city has to offer for music and entertainment.
New Orleans, Louisiana
The Big Easy is a one of a kind destination, known for its non-stop nightlife, soulful music scene and rich cuisine. New Orleans has a strong connection to Jazz, R&B, Hip Hop and rock music, reflecting the melting pot that this Mississippi city let simmer for a long while. The French Quarter offers up the historic heart of New Orleans featuring colorful buildings in every direction and a crowd pleasing array of Jazz clubs, eateries and strong drinks to pair with the local foods.
